[Scientiae] The Yearend Carnival
Paula, 01/12/10|01:36 pmFor November and December Cherish and I where your Hosts for the Scientiae Carnival. We were both not very good hosts having missed our due dates. But generally there were not many submissions. So I am thinking about wether this Carnival still is the right format. Founded by Alice Pawley who was last blogging with SciWo at Sciencewomen it helped connect women who blog on science in a way a simple blogroll could not. At first there were few of us and then more and more. It was a wonderful thing to watch even though the development seems to become less rapid. Reading and participating in Scientiae has given me the courage and audacity to ask for the science help I need and to tell my boss that I am done with my PhD work and am starting to write up my thesis. That is why I want this Carnival to continue, because there are other scientistas out there who want and need the kind of encouragement that the Carnival has offered me. Alice has stopped blogging for the moment but this Carnvial continues, if you would like to organise it, please get into contact with her.
Because of this and because the end of the year is generally a time for reflection and thankfulness Cherish and I themed our Carnival like this.
Patchi from my Middle Years gives us a lovely ditty about her favorite sciency things
Alyssa from Apple Pie and the Universe gives Thanks for science outreach and education among other things.
Pat from Fairer Science gives us a story about Bess Hawes and Mobius Strips
Science Girl writes on how great it is to be paid to think. I hadn’t ever thought of my job that way, but hey she’s right and that makes me happy.
Dr DudeChick at Who am I writes about the happiness nice and helpful people bring.
Justapie offers us her thoughts on happiness in science while being a parent.
And finally Fridayafternoonwriter writes about happiness in simple things from teaching to the lab to the home.

Thank you for hosting the carnival! I’m sorry I didn’t get around to submitting :-( These were some great posts.
