Sholapur, Town of the Villains

Paula, 27. 10. 07|14:Okt

We are finally arrived in Sholapur, the city where my colleagues wedding is going to be, tomorrow. It is a rather small city with no sights and no tourists. People here do not generally speak english, which is difficult, but we manage. Yesterday the groom got henna paintings on his hands from some of the neighbors. They also painted mine. I feel beautiful now. Today we saw some of the city, namely the temple and the remnants of the fort, which aren’t very many. The guy at the ticket counter was clearly surprised to see tourists coming. He should have had extra tickets for us since we pay twenty times what the locals pay, i.e. 100 Rupies. Instead he gave us fourty tickets. It was very funny. I am really looking forward to the wedding itself. Oh and the title has to do with Bollywood movies, where the villain always seems to be from Sholapur, I am told. Later we have some more touristy things planned, like going to visit the carved caves at Ellora. Hope you are enjoying yourselves, Paula.
